My Awkward Sexual Adventure leads with six nominations at 2013 Canadian Comedy Awards

Jonas Chernick has been nominated for Best Writing in a Film for his screenplay for My Awkward Sexual Adventure, which picked up a leading six nominations for the 14th annual Canadian Comedy Awards, to be held on October 6, 2013 in Ottawa. Other nominees from the film include Best Female Performance nominees Emily Hampshire and Sarah Manninen, Best Male Performance nominee Vik Sahay, Best Direction in a Film nominee Sean Garrity and Best Film. Jonas Chernick nominated for 2013 ACTRA Award for Outstanding Male Performance for My Awkward Sexual Adventure

ACTRA Toronto announced the nominations for their annual awards today, which included a nod to Jonas Chernick for his portrayal of Jordan Abrams in the comedy feature film My Awkward Sexual Adventure. Chernick is up against four dramatic performances; Shawn Doyle for The Disappeared, Enrico Colantoni for Flashpoint, Rossif Sutherland for Flashpoint, and Luke Kirby for The Samaritan, which also features Chernick in a small role. Jonas Chernick’s latest feature film, My Awkward Sexual Adventure, has been selected by the Toronto International Film Festival’s Top Ten list, as one of the ten best Canadian films of 2012. It appears alongside an esteemed group of movies, including Oscar-nominated Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children, David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, Canada’s Oscar submission for Best Foreign Language Film Rebelle and Sarah Polley’s award-winning Stories We Tell. My Awkward Sexual Adventure wins the People’s Choice Award at the 2012 Calgary International Film Festival

Announced on October 5, 2012, My Awkward Sexual Adventure has won the People’s Choice Award for Best Narrative Film at the recently wrapped Calgary International Film Festival. The movie, starring, written by and co-produced by Jonas Chernick, was a crowd favorite at this year’s festival, where the audience voted it their favorite film (tying with Rebelle, Canada’s submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award). My Awkward Sexual Adventure and Blood Pressure both to screen at Whistler

The Whistler Film Festival announced today that both 2012 collaborations by director Sean Garrity and actor Jonas Chernick will screen at this year’s festival, and that both will compete for the coveted Borsos Award for Best Canadian Feature. The award comes with a $15,000 cash prize. Only six films are selected every year to compete for the award at Whistler, and Festival Director of Programming Paul Gratton has controversially given two of the slots to the same actor-director team. Cameras started rolling November 6 on the raunchy sex comedy My Awkward Sexual Adventure, starring Jonas Chernick, Emily Hampshire (Cosmopolis, Good Neighbors), Sarah Manninen (The Line) and Vik Sahay (NBC’s hit series Chuck, American Pie Reunion).
