The Burning Season Plays Glasgow, Closing Night Gala at Can Film Fest

Sean Garrity’s “The Burning Season” is set to have its international premiere at the prestigious Glasgow Film Festival next weekend, and will be the Closing Night Gala at the Canadian Film Festival on March 23, 2024, the CFF announced today. After having a world premiere at Whistler in December 2023, the feature film picked up the Borsos Award for Best Screenplay, and was nominated for a Vancouver Film Critics Circle Award last month, for Jonas Chernick’s performance as “JB”. The Glasgow Film Festival screening marks Garrity’s second consecutive feature to screen there, after last year’s “The End of Sex”, and marks writer-producer-actor Chernick’s fourth feature film to play in Glasgow in five years. The Closing Night Gala slot at the Canadian Film Festival marks the Toronto premiere of the film, which will be released theatrically in Canada in April by distributor Northern Banner Releasing. “The Burning Season” is the seventh feature film collaboration between Garrity and Chernick, and currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
