The 2023 Vancouver Film Critics Circle has nominated Jonas Chernick for Best Male Supporting Actor, for his performance in the indie feature “The Burning Season”. This marks Chernick’s first-ever nomination for a Film Critics Association award, after winning Best Screenplay at the 2023 Whistler Film Festival for writing the script for “The Burning Season” with co-writer Diana Frances. The film continues its festival run throughout the first quarter of 2024, before a scheduled Canadian theatrical release in the spring through Northern Banner Releasing. Chernick is nominated opposite Glenn Howerton and Matt Johnson (both for “BlackBerry”) and Chris Pang (“Seagrass”).
