The Burning Season Wins Best Screenplay at Whistler Film Festival

“The Burning Season”, written by Jonas Chernick and Diana Frances, has won the Best Screenplay Award at the 2023 Whistler Film Festival. The prize is handed out annually by the esteemed jury, who select the winners among the films competing for the Borsos Award. “The Burning Season” had its world premiere at the festival, kick-starting a festival run that will continue through to the film’s theatrical release in cinemas across Canada in spring 2024. Chernick also stars and produced under his Banana-Moon Sky Films shingle. The film is being distributed in Canada by Northern Banner Releasing, and is directed by long-time Chernick collaborator Sean Garrity.
